What do you think about this?

Here's what the folks at my work think

I have to agree with the work folks that while the new plate thing is easier to understand, it still has a lot lacking. Additionally, I think the way it's set up implies that the four "food groups" each make up a quarter of the plate. The difference in size is subtle and underplayed, so it looks like you should eat as much grains as veggies and as much protein as each of those etc. It doesn't point out the protein can come from non-meat sources and that the real benefits of dairy are in the calcium and vitamin D it contains, which can also be found in other sources. So, the new plate was a little disappointing for me, but at least it's visually straightforward.

hmmm. when i was at byu, a professor of mine raved about walter willett's healthy eating pyramid. his opinion rubbed off on me. when will the us gov realize that no one can beat walt's pyramid and just adopt his? since graduating i've shared the healthy eating pyramid with many people because i believe it stems from the best research around and that it's visually as simple as possible to understand. go walt!!!
